Lincoln Athletics is proud to kick off October (which is Domestic Violence Awareness month) starting on Monday! Domestic Violence Awareness Week begin with a presentation that we would like to invite any Lincoln staff members, high school students, and community members to attend (please note that due to the sensitive nature of this topic we are only opening the presentation to Lincoln staff members and high school aged students – no middle school or elementary aged students, please).
The presenter, Nicole Beverly, is a Lincoln parent is a Domestic Violence Survivor and Advocate. Her personal story is life-changing and since so many people know her and her family in our community we feel that it is extremely important to have as much participation at this presentation as possible.
Both presentations will be on Monday, September 25:
The presentation for male athletes/students wil
l be at 3:00 pm in the Performing Arts Center.
The presentation for female athletes/students will be at 4:00 pm in the Performing Arts Center.
*Staff members and other community members can attend either presentation time regardless of gender*
Nicole will be selling wristbands at the presentation for $2 and official purple long-sleeved “DV Awareness” shirts will be for sale in the athletic office starting on Monday 9/25 for $10 each with proceeds from both going to benefit Urban Success.
In addition, we have made an effort to increase the participation of this week of recognition to include any teams that compete at home during the week of 9/25. Here are the teams that have committed to hosting their own “purple out” at their game/meet in case you are interested in attending those as well!
Men’s Soccer – September 28 vs. Tecumseh
Women’s Swim & Dive – September 28 vs. Adrian
Volleyball – October 3 vs. Pinckney
To cap off the week of recognition and education on Domestic Violence, we are excited to announce that we have partnered with the Adrian Maples and will be hosting a “purple out” on Friday (9/29) at the home football game vs. Adrian. We would like to encourage all Splitter Nation students and families to participate in this, we would like to see the stadium filled with purple! Purple shirts for students and community members will remain on sale in the athletic office for $10 each during the week as well as at the game (note that we will not be taking pre-orders or hold, come visit the athletic office Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm to purchase yours)!
