The sky was overcast with a chill in the air as the Lincoln Railsplitters hosted the Tecumseh Indians in the 2018 home opener. Tecumseh threw their ace, the hard throwing Cameron Wagoner. He was out dueled by a dominant Steven Rangel. The lefty kept the Indians hitters off balance all day. He yielded only one hit, two walks, and three strikeouts.
Splitter Nation got on the board on the board in the bottom of the third inning. Rangel got a one out single. Kyjuan Rice got aboard on a fielder’s choice due to a failed double play attempt. Cam Thompson reached on an error by Will McAran. With the bases loaded Antonio Walker hit a sac fly to plate Cortland Montgomery who courtesy ran for Rangel.
In the fifth, Walker drove in Rice on a sharp single up the middle. Bryan Jones drove in the third run on a nice hit into the hole between first and second, scoring Ratliff who had reached on an infield single.
With the win, Lincoln moved to 3-0 on the young season and swept the season series with Tecumseh. Our next game is Monday at 4 pm at Railsplitter field against Adrian.
